The Capital Area Trauma Regional Advisory Council offers some subsidized continuing education courses for its member agencies, as well as information about courses, conferences & seminars offered by our regional partners. Registration forms and links to further details about upcoming courses are listed below. If you are interested in a course in the TSA-O area, but are not associated with a member agency, please contact us before sending in a registration. If you have a need for educational offerings, if you or your organization has a course to offer, or if you would like to request funding for an upcoming course, please download and complete the appropriate form, then submit to education@catrac.org.

"Shot Through the Heart...of EMS" - February 10, 2012, 7:30am to 4:00pm: Scott & White Temple presents this mini-conference at the Health Sciences Center, Temple College East Campus. 7 hours CE will be available, and registration fee includes breakfast and lunch.

22nd Annual Lou Withrow SKYWARN Austin / South Central Texas Severe Weather Spotter Training Session - February 18, 2012, 8:15am to 4:15pm: This training is open to the general public. Those involved in public safety and severe weather safety / recognition, such as amateur radio operators, first responders (police officers, firefighters and EMS officials), emergency management officials and media representatives (reporters, photojournalists) are encouraged to attend this important session. No advance registration required. This session is FREE of charge (other than lunch on your own). Plenty of Free Parking. Sign in / Registration starts at 8:15am the day of the training (please do not arrive before 8:15am). A certificate of completion will be presented to those participants completing the entire training session.

Pediatric Care After Resuscitation - March 29 & 30, 2012, 8:00am to 4:00pm: This course is designed to give pediatric nurses who work in acute care, critical care, and perioperative areas the foundational, evidence-based information and critical thinking skills necessary to care for the hospitalized trauma child. PCAR covers a wide range of pathophysiologic and nursing concepts and is designed to be a broad, core-level program, rather than an advanced or specialty area-specific course. Texas Injury & Violence Prevention Conference - June 20-22, 2012: This conference is focused on providing attendees with training on the Core Competencies for injury and violence prevention work at all levels. Whether you are building a coalition in your community, conducting an educational initiative, researching injury in your region, or advocating for policy change, this conference will offer valuable learning opportunities. Skill building workshops will focus on evidenced-informed strategies, data, resources, program planning and implementation, evaluation, and advocating for policy change.
